24 Nov 2016 - 30 Dec 2016

In the gallery of Czech Centre Prague, there will be a see and touch exhibition by the association Hapestetika from November 24 to December 30, 2016.

The tactile exhibition of the Czech art of sculpture will be held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of professional services for people with visual disability.

The aim of this exhibition is to bring fine art to people with visual disabilities and people to allow them to experience a tactile perception of artwork and also for the authors to reveal another dimension to their work. The exhibition is a place where all participants are brought closer together. The motto of the exhibition has become the motto "Touch, please," as an expression of support against isolation among people and art.

Selecting  works on the tactile exhibition is not easy. There are many aspects, especially restoration and conservation, which must always be respected.

At the current exhibition in the Czech Centre in Rytířská Street, we focus on  genre variety, so that the file contains portraits, figures, animal motives and terms of abstract works that bring interesting structure and materials with possibility of manipulation. Genres and periods should be balanced, so that visitors are not discouraged by too many demanding abstract works, nor bored with easily readable realistic works.

The exhibition Hapestetika  is organized by the Association Hapestetika, z. S., which have dealt with the topic  of interpretation  art  for people with visual disabilities since the early 90s. Hapestetika has organized several exhibitions in Prague and abroad. They help museums and galleries with projects providing access to their collections for the visually impaired. Their experiences were published in book Dotýkejte se, prosím (Touch the Exhibitions, please).

Use the unique opportunity to view and experience the touch of 25 selected sculptures and statues of Czech modern art since Gutfreund and Filla to the contemporary artists.

The exhibition is possible because of financial support of the Foundation Mathilda and ČEZ Foundation. The Hapestetika Association would like to thank the Czech Centre for providing free space for the exhibition and organizational support.
