A virtual visit of Adolf Loos’ interiors of the Bauer Chateau, Brno (July 23, 6 p.m. CEST)

A virtual visit to the only example of Adolf Loos’ work in his hometown, Brno. The tour around the Bauer Chateau will be given by Lenka Štěpánková, an architect from the Brno Exhibition Centre where the Bauer Chateau is located.

Built at the beginning of the 19th century, the interiors of the Chateau were remodelled by Adolf Loos in 1925. Loos's concept for the interior reveals a characteristic purism and simplicity, yet the influence of Classicism as well as the funereal motifs of the Empire style using a wide range of luxury materials are inseparable aspects. The original interior features dark green marble panelling with embedded mirrors and a stucco frieze border depicting figures below the ceiling. The tour is part of a series of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of Adolf Loos’ birth by the Czech Centres and partners.
