Výstava s názvem „European Break-up“ bude návštěvníkům otevřena v prostorách ČC Rotterdam a Goethe-Institutu v sobotu 7. března 2020 od 20:00 do 1:00.

Spolupořadatelé: Goethe-Institut, CBK R’dam, České centrum, Museumnacht010

Luis Maly is a Greek multidisciplinary artist based in The Hague. He graduated in 2017 from the Royal Academy of Arts of The Hague.  Since, he has participated in multiple group shows with new works. The theme of his work shown the past years was dealing with the subject of death and non-existence and the way we, the mortal human beings, face these topics. Last months, Luis has been researching the decay of public sculptures in Athens in relationship to the political instability of Greece. By doing field research, past November in Athens, at antigovernment demonstration and riots he realized, among others, how violence and chaos is “normalized” and present in everyday life of Athenian people. The work shown at the Goethe institute is about identity and citizenship and the correlation between them. Luis was born in Luxembourg to a Greek mother with an Italian last name and an USA passport and a father with a Czech last name and an Austrian passport. Luis has an Austrian passport but his German is not so good.

Kateřina Konarovská, born in Prague, graduated from illustration at the West Bohemian University in 2011. Then she moved to Germany and was awarded an internship in C&A as a textile designer in Dusseldorf. After moving to Netherlands, she graduated in 2015 from The Royal Academy of Art The Hague in the painting department. Nowadays she focuses on designing artistic fabrics, tapestries, making paintings and, in addition, writing her own songs.

She describes her work in the following words: “My motivation is the vision that art can help us live the life with love even in this world of delusion, of hierarchy and superiority, reflected by political system. I enjoy showing unloved moments like social taboos, emptiness, fear, anxieties, need of consume or no money, while feeling harmony and beauty of art.
I’m using different forms. Since painting is the oldest medium, I consider it to be a modern way of balancing the speed of technology 666 www. I also use mainstream forms, in which I like to sneak meaningful content. By that I stand between craft in my atelier cave and a modern city life and that helps me communicate the content. In that sense, I’m painting surprising patterns for textile language, fictive magazines and fictive radio broadcasts.”
